Urology testing

We spent 5 hours at two hospitals today getting the last of the work-ups done for CC. The doc was thrilled. He said "He has one of the best bladders I've ever seen in a Spina-bifida patient." The work up included an ultrasound, which showed that his kidneys are good too and weren't affected by the melamine-tainted milk from China. The catheterization part of the testing was no fun but CC was a trooper and so patient the whole day. Daddy took off work and my sweet friend Lisa took care of D and Z for us so that little guy could have both mommy and daddy by his side. Now CC is all squared away- he will see the ped. orthopaedist, urologist and neurosurgeon every 6 months and get an MRI once per year to make sure his cord isn't tethering as he grows. Future visits with the urologist shoud just be an ultrasound, which he loved. He was grinning and saying "tickle, tickle" as the tech moved the scanner on his belly.

Here's a pic Dora took with her camera. A little brotherly love for ya.Blessed beyond measure, Pam

I'm a sucker for a man in dog slippers...

CC is doing great. He has actually been walking straighter and getting stronger- I'm amazed when we go to the playground by the difference in just a few months. He is so sweet and sings all the time. He likes to ask me "What doing, Mama?" I was thinking today how glad I am that I adopted him. Glad just doesn't seem to describe it though. It's a kind of joy deep in the soul mixed with awe that God could redeem tragic circumstances and weave our destinies into something so beautiful.

The coordinator I assist at Love Without Boundaries is going to head up one of the larger foster care programs, so I am now going to be the coordinator. I'm excited to learn the ropes and help the little ones from Alex's orphanage. We have eight children in the program right now and 3 more will soon be added. Each of them is so precious.

Dora just had the flu last weekend. She still isn't eating much and seems worn out. I guess it can take awhile to really recover for some people. She just had a terrible cold a month ago. Maybe I need to get some more vitamins in her somehow. She is doing well with her schoolwork and her little inventions and crafts in her spare time. We are reading the Wizard of Oz series together.

Zach seems to be catching on with learning his letters and counting. It's funny with kids how it seems like they just wake up one day and it "clicks". He has lots of energy and does a crazy dance in my room every morning. His idea of a good time is to don his dragon costume, let Dora tie a rope to the tail and drag her down the hall as she squeals "Dragon! I'm trying to train you!!!!" He makes me read Cars and Trucks and Things That Go every night.

Whew it's getting late. Mama is off to bed.

Love, Pam
